The IBT Constitution establishes the overall governing structure for every Teamsters Local. However, it does not provide the complete duties and authority of every Local Union officer. Each Local Union is required to adopt its own bylaws, which must comply with and cannot conflict with the IBT Constitution.

We have been informed that the Local 2024 bylaws will be available in the coming week. Once released, those bylaws must be reviewed and incorporated into any complete explanation of these positions.

Until Local 2024's bylaws are provided to the membership, any description of these offices must clearly distinguish between:
-What the IBT Constitution confirms
-What must be established in the Local 2024 bylaws
-What may ulimately be assigned through established practice
