Melissa Bosman
Trustee
I am a registered nurse at Corewell Health and have been a pediatric RN for 26 years, including 22 years at Children’s Hospital of Michigan and the past 5 years at Corewell Health’s outpatient pediatric clinic in Dearborn. Throughout my career, I have been a strong advocate for nurses, patients, and families, and I have never been afraid to speak up when something doesn’t seem right.
I became involved with our union because I believe nurses deserve a voice in the decisions that affect our jobs, our working conditions, and ultimately the care we provide. I quickly learned that having a union isn't just about what happens at the bargaining table. A strong union depends on members who are informed, involved, willing to ask questions, and willing to stand up for one another.
I have had the privilege of serving as a Union Steward and as a member of the Bargaining Committee that helped negotiate our first collective bargaining agreement. Those experiences have taught me a tremendous amount about representation and our union, while reinforcing how important transparency, communication, accountability, and member involvement will be as we build Local 2024.
I am running for Trustee because I believe our members deserve elected leaders who will ask questions, pay attention to the details, listen to members, and make sure decisions are made with the membership in mind. I believe in working with others to find solutions, but I am also willing to ask difficult questions when something doesn’t make sense.
As Trustee, I will take seriously the responsibility of reviewing our Local’s finances and helping ensure that our members’ dues are properly accounted for, handled responsibly, and protected.
This is our first contract, our first elected leadership, and our opportunity to help shape what Local 2024 becomes. I want us to build a Local where members are informed, involved, and confident in the people they elect to represent them.
I’ve spent my career advocating for others. I’m ready to bring that same persistence, attention to detail, and willingness to speak up to serving the members of Local 2024.
I don’t simply want to hold a position—I want to help build a Local that members trust, understand, and feel belongs to them.
