Good afternoon fellow nurses:

My name is Ann Converso, RN. I want to tell you a bit about me, so you understand why I am supporting Katherine Wallace as the very first President of Teamsters Local 2024.

My career was spent at the Buffalo VA. 35 years on an acute med/surg floor with 10 long term ventilator patients. I was 21. Long time ago. An injustice was served upon me early in my career and that’s why I got involved. We were represented by NYSNA. I eventually got elected to their Board. I then worked my way to Vice President and then President on the United American Nurses. They later merged with CNA to form NNU, National Nurses United. I say all of this so you have an understanding of my knowledge of nursing, unionism and fighting for what we rightfully deserve for ourselves and the patients that we care for.

I came to know Katherine through a healthcare workers network chat. She was dedicated, smart, fierce and had an unstoppable yearning to learn and be the best she could be for all the nurses that the union would represent. She was on every phone call. She texted with questions. She sought out answers on her own. She set up Zoom calls with myself and numerous others to make sure that everyone’s questions were answered and that the best possible outcome, a YES vote would be achieved.

That might have been enough for some, but not Katherine. A YES vote is no good unless a good first contract is agreed to and ratified. There was Katherine again, fighting for a better work life for the nurses. A better work life for nurses means better patient care! We all know that. So that again would be enough for most, but here comes Katherine leading the charge for an awesome slate of nurses to help guide you through this first contract.

I KNOW that Katherine is the nurse for this job! Along with her slate, they will hold management’s feet to the fire and keep working every day for a better work life for all of you! I encourage you to support and vote for WE ARE 2024: 10K STRONG!!
